Richard Alan Ryerson was the academic director of The David Library of the American Revolution at Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania (now incorporated into the library of the American Philosophical Society), from 2002 to 2008, and editor in chief of The Adams Papers at the Massachusetts Historical Society from 1983 to 2001. His is the author of John Adams's Republic: The One, the Few, and the Many (2016).
