It would be an insult to allow this interview to pass without comment:

We'd be morally lost without ethical storm chasers like Leon Kass.

Wisdom, its pursuit and teaching its beneficent spiritual and moral effects, have constituted the principle goal of Kass's career. And wisdom, for those who would grasp or glimpse it, is to be had for the mere listening to what he says and reading what he writes.

And there is so much variety in his wisdom literature and lectures. Skip quickly through L&L's modest interview and read or listen to:
1) Kass's 2003 book The Beginning of Wisdom: Reading Genesis.
Or at least read that book's lengthy review in First Things:

2) Being Human: Readings from the President's Council on Bioethics published by the US Government (hard to believe) when Kass was Chairman of the Council (one of Baby Bush's rare achievements.)

3) Numerous Kass lectures and seminars on the interface of literature, the Bible, history and ethics available on Contemporary Thinkers:

I listened to this podcast this morning and many hours ago posted a SHORT, positive comment about Leon Kass.

Yet my comment has not been printed. I am told that it "awaits moderation."

Moderation by whom and for what?

This web site is badly in need of intelligent managment.

Timothy;

I also have experienced the same "moderation" delay.

I think it is due to the fact that you included more than TWO links. Thius is what has happened to me in the past.
So I try to limit it to two links - or I pretend that i forgot something, reply to myself with an "Oops" and include the other link.

Listening to this at the end of 2018 brings a question to my mind I have wondered about for the past 2 years: why hasn't Trump revived the President's Council on Bioethics? Trump ought to, and put this incredibly wise man in charge of it again

PS- my alma mater UD had a great motto along the lines Kass suggested, the imperative "Veritatem, Justitiam Diligite." We translate it as "love ye, truth and justice"
